All creatures (including humans) have the innate capacity to maintain physical/emotional balance by surrendering to relaxation and restoration immediately following any stressful situation. Humans, however, also have the ability to over-ride that innate capacity and dwell on that stress - changing our very biochemistry. Every time we succumb to heightened stimulative stress response, we further the distance to our natural equilibrium and balance.
Join Tara & Bill (Cozmic Water Sounds & Yoga) on the path to saṃtoṣa or contentment – equanimity in the subtle realm and true ease in the physical realm. We merge the wisdom of the ancient spiritual traditions of the medieval Kaśmir Valley & sound healing techniques with the modern practices of Somatic & Yin yogas to re-create that natural and calm state of the heart-mind, body and spirit - saṃtoṣa.
We consider each Yogi as a unique individual, inherently whole and perfect. It is not a practice to achieve some THING, it is an invitation to fully experience your body as manifesting within awareness within each presence moment.
Serenity Somatic Sound & Yin Yoga is an exploration of the qualities and the connections within and throughout the body, cultivating a sense of expansive wholeness dancing and flowing softly around your still and centered heart.
Somatic Yoga is a letting go of the “Doing” and the “Wanting” and deeply listening, feeling, sensing ... the way your body moves most fluidly, effortlessly and naturally, free from the constructs of personal and social expectations. When we learn how to surrender "the Doing”, "the Wanting”, "the Pushing“ and "the Pulling“, a space emerges where this effortless movement becomes habitual, supporting us in a flow-like state of moving gracefully, with ease.
-Play and discover the uniqueness of your body
-Movement perceived from within
-Fluidity and flow directing us from deep inside
-A 3-dimensional dance of wholeness
-A celebration of moving with lightness and stability
-Spaciousness and grounding
-Being in tune with oneself
-Play, breathe, move, smile, sing, hum
2 Hour Introduction to Serenity Somatic Sound & Yin Yoga Workshop Brief Outline
We will begin the Workshop with recitation of ancient mantra to create a calmer and more aware mind-state, feeling into full-bodied resonance of breath-voice-movement while inviting intuitive intimacy with living presence. We initiate the focus of our awareness inward by engaging a somatic breathing practice (pranāyama); leading into a brief meditation.
Next we will begin a brief discussion to answer any questions and provide an overview and guideposts for the practice. This will lead to a hands-on demonstration of the power of these practices.
Afterwards, while Tara fills the room with live music, Bill guides you through a luscious somatic movement & Yin flow intended to nourish your body, breath, heart-mind, spirit & connection with the whole.
As we move towards the Bliss of Awareness, you may now be fully supported with props, blankets and eye pillows in a restorative yoga pose.
Then, every cell in your body will be awakened to the transformational vibrations of a Cosmic Water Yoga Sound Immersion & Yoga NIdrā
We end with light snacks, recap the practice and answer any questions.
Cozmic Water’s intention is to create a fully-embodied tapestry of direct experience. Blissful patterns of folding and unfolding, flowing focus - spontaneously spun from the fibers of awareness and woven from the threads of a consistent, coherent blend of yogic practices, technologies & wisdom of the medieval Kashmir Valley with modern somatic movement & sensory science - toward the recognition of a deeper, more expansive mosaic of ‘Self’.
Expect a Cozmic Water practice to honor the wisdom and teachings of the ancients by holding the space for the blossoming of surrender, stillness, silence, sound, spaciousness, serenity, sahaja, samādhi, sleep (nidrā)… to re-create a natural and calm state of the mind, body and spirit.
Somatic Sound Embodiment Meditations Yoga is a gentle and deeply relaxing practice that combines the principles of Somatic Movement, Nāda Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yin Yoga. It is a holistic roots-based approach to yoga that focuses on nurturing & valuing Self-perception, restoring balance, uncovering & releasing habitual tension while promoting deep integration of the 5 levels of Self.
What sets these Cozmic Water experiences apart is the artful integration of Nāda (or Sound Yoga) into the practice. Nāda Yoga is a transformative path that offers a multitude of benefits for our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. This easily accessible and deeply effective form of yoga is prevalent in all lineages and saṃpradāya of pre-modern yoga. Through the exploration of sound and vibration, we embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and spiritual awakening. Nāda Yoga allows us to connect with our true essence, restore balance to our being, and experience the profound joy and beauty of sound. It is a practice that invites us to listen deeply, to attune ourselves to the divine symphony of the universe, and to embrace the transformative power of Nāda Yoga.
Throughout the practice, soothing and resonant sounds such as gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, chimes, flute, gentle vocal toning become the practice inner and outer Soundscape. These sounds help deepen the relaxation response, enhance the body's natural healing abilities, and create a harmonious and meditative atmosphere. The vibrations of the sounds penetrate deep into the body, promoting a sense of calm, balance, and inner peace.
To these soothing and resonant kaleidoscopic sounds the practice begins with breath-centering and gentle Somatic Yin shapes held for 3 - 5 minutes. The stillness, punctuated with small, slow and mindful somatic movements helps release chronic muscle tension and retrain the nervous system. Through these movements, we become aware of our body's sensations, patterns of tension, and areas of holding. By bringing our attention to these areas, we can release the tension and create more freedom and ease in our bodies.
As the Somatic Yin phase transitions into Restorative Nāda Nidrā (sleep)Yoga, we move into supported and passive poses that are held for an extended period, typically 5 to 10 minutes or even longer. These poses are fully supported by props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks, allowing the body to completely relax and surrender. As we immerse ourselves in the sacred sounds and vibrations, we enter a state of profound stillness and inner silence (nidrā). The mind becomes calm, and the distractions of the external world fade away. In this state of deep meditation, we can experience a direct connection with the oneness of the universe or the divine, if you like. The sound becomes a vehicle for transcendence, as well as immanence, carrying us beyond the limitations of the physical realm and into the realm of pure consciousness and back to ground of Being, engaging life with more attention and vibrancy.
Somatic Sound Embodiment Meditations Yoga is suitable for practitioners of all levels, including beginners. It offers a nurturing and supportive practice that allows for deep relaxation, stress relief, and the release of physical and emotional tension. It is a practice that encourages self-care, self-compassion, and a deep connection to oneself. By combining the elements of Somatic Movement, Sound Healing, Restorative Yoga, and Yin Yoga, Somatic Sound Restorative Yin Yoga provides a holistic and transformative experience for the body, mind, and spirit.
